We just launched a website for one of my clients and I’m delighted with the results. They’re a small Oakland construction company, W.A. Rose Construction—they’ve been a part of the Oakland landscape for 70+ years. Our overarching goal was to showcase the stunning work that this company is doing.
We inherited a single-page site. The homepage design is professional and timeless—we added some description to boost their SEO and a navigation bar at the top of the page.
We scheduled an early-morning photoshoot and added brief bios for the company’s seasoned principals. But the heart of the site is the Client Showcase. I worked with my long-time web developer, Ryan Lawrence, of BlueCap Web Design & Development, who helped turn a simple WordPress site into something special by deploying a plug-in to highlight W.A. Rose Construction’s project pictures. It’s very easy to use—you just load jpg files into a little dynamic element.
I love the way this site highlights the Rose team and their projects. Best of all, their site is now in WordPress, so we can add new project descriptions and images at their conclusion.
As the site’s project manager and content developer, I had the pleasure of talking with many Rose clients to develop project descriptions, and I quickly realized that W.A. Rose Construction’s clients all loved them for the same reasons—ongoing communication throughout the project, honesty and integrity and their ability to meet deadlines and budgets. I love working with them as well. Take a look at their work—pay particular attention to a Craftsman-style conversion of a little San Francisco home. This cottage was nearly a year in the making, with every artisan involved in the project dedicated to making this home the exquisite showpiece that it has become.
